Yanni Hufnagel is a Jewish man who grew up in Scarsdale, New York. He played high school basketball and his love for the sport continued to grow in college. He went to Cornell University to earn his bachelor’s degree and then the University of Oklahoma for his master’s degree. He joined the men’s basketball staff as a graduate assistant coach and worked with players like Blake Griffin and other NBA prospects. His next venture was joining the Harvard basketball coaching staff where he helped develop players like Jeremy Lin. Here is where his basketball mind continued to grow as he became a better coach and also a great recruiter. He was a young coach with a great personality and his ability to reach out to these young student athletes is what helped make him successful. Yanni Hufnagel’s next coaching job was at the University of Vanderbilt. He was recognized with having a great recruiting year by ESPN TV network. With continued public exposure, he was offered a position at the University of California, Berkeley. That year, the basketball program was able to recruit key players who helped the team to an NCAA Tournament berth. Yanni Hufnagel is currently the assistant coach for the University of Nevada in Reno. More and more colleges in the NCAA is offering him a position in their coaching staff as they are recognizing his potential as a great coach. The next logical step would be to offer Yanni Hufnagel a head coaching position for a major NCAA basketball team. Then this young brilliant Jewish man from Scarsdale will be able to showcase his talent consistently in a national televised stage.
