Dr. Mark Holterman began his college education at Yale University, earning a bachelor’s degree in biology. He acquired his MD-PhD in medicine and immunology by attending the University of Virginia, graduating in 1988. His residency was completed in 1993 at the University of Virginia. He followed this up at the University of Washington in Seattle with a pediatric fellowship.
As a researcher, Dr. Mark Holterman has a number of interests. This includes cancer treatment, stem cell therapies, regenerative medicine, and how to address obesity. One of his major professional accomplishments occurred when he was a co-surgeon on a surgery for a 3-year-old Korean child. This surgery was the first successful trachea transplant in the world.
